Meet Us

I started Cool Mom’s Closet two years ago. My mom would help package, iron, and ship products, and my grandma (who taught me how to sew when I was a little girl) would help sew. I originally picked the name as an ode to my mom’s timeless taste in product functionality, design, style, and quality. Yet the name turned into a symbol of something much more. There were countless late nights of work, problem-solving and decision making. We all put our devotion and love into CMC, and it wouldn’t be where it is today without our family.

As we expanded, we began working with new people and my mom and grandma began spending more time doing what they love, namely gardening, real estate, and spending time with our furry friends, but we are a family-oriented business at our core. We consider the people we work with, sewers, helpers and suppliers, a part of our family as well. Our founder is a young woman of color. We have a great and diverse team of sewers who help us, and we’re proud to say we support all forms of diversity in our family.

Sourcing

We source as many materials as possible that are US-made from US businesses. We also choose to produce in the US. We might have to pay more for US-materials and making products here, but we think it’s the right thing to do. It’s better for the planet (less overseas transport means less emissions), creates jobs, allows for better wages for workers and fairer working conditions (although we acknowledge that there is still a lot of progress to be made in worker wages and safety), and it leads to a higher quality product down the line.

New Products
Sustainability is important to us, which is why we’ve been working hard to constantly launch new products that are biodegradable, 100% natural, and plastic free.
Further Goals
We're still a small business so we can’t afford to do things like have a workshop that’s completely powered by our own solar panels (something we really want to do!). Regardless, as we grow, we’ve been implementing small initiatives such as biodegradable products and better end-of-use information for shoppers.
